So everything is coming along nicely for the re-opening of The Fish. We sincerely appreciate all of the support that every single one of you has given over the past few months. So many people have sent their prayers, their well wishes, and their love that it's been incredible.

Some of you even saw fit to send as much hate as possible and to tell us how glad we were gone so that you get back to the REAL music and the real shows. I have a few things to say about that subject. If you don't like what we do then don't come - pretty simple. We love everybody regardless of who they are. Sure some of you are harder to love than others - that's what you get when you deal with people. We're all different and we all have unique values. Lots of people that claim the title of 'Christian' have different views from one another. Nothing is going to change that and we don't want to try. What we want you to know is what we are and are not.

We are:

A group of people that love and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and God his Father. We don't claim to do it any better than anyone else does. We are people and we are capable of loving and hating, success and failure, compassion and apathy. As such, we try to always follow the positive and loving route. We believe that people can change and that no person is ever beyond the reach of God's grace. We believe that you have done things in your life for which you can ask forgiveness and be forgiven. We believe in mercy, grace, peace, and love. We love YOU! It doesn't matter if you come to shows, are in a band, or just some random person in Milwaukee who messages us just wanting to talk. You can go to sleep tonight knowing that God loves you and we love you.

Deeply and sincerely, we want you to know that you are a child of God.

Created from dust and to dust you will return.

Designed for only one purpose, to love Him and to be loved by Him.

We are not:

All about shows. So many people think that we exist as a venue because we like having shows and being cool. Let me bust that myth right now. While we do enjoy having shows, it is not what we are here for. The Fish is around because of a vision from God about creating a place where people can get together and enjoy themselves with friends, music, and fun. Whether you pit or not, whether you stand on the back wall, whether you stand by the snack bar the whole time - it doesn't matter. We are here because we love people and we love the fellowship of our friends.

We are not about competition. I hear from people all the time saying this venue is doing this and you should do this too. We have people ask us how we manage to compete with other venues all the time. I will repeat myself - we are not about competition. We are not a venue to make money or to hang out with bands. While many of the bands are our friends, they are much better friends outside the venue. They were around before The Fish and they will be our friends after The Fish. I always welcome comments about what you'd like to see at The Fish and I want you all to feel welcome to voice opinions about your show experience. Ultimately, I really want to know how YOU are. It's more important to me.

I'll also destroy another myth about The Fish - we don't make money or get paid. WE DO NOT GET PAID! Huh???? Yep. Zip. Zilch. Nada. That's how much the staff of The Fish makes. Not a paid person there. We use all of the money that we collect from shows to provide for your safety, to improve the sound and lighting of the venue, to pay for insurance and the like, to take the best care of bands that we can, and to take care of people that need help. That's where is goes. All of it.
